A little about me

Katie Stewart is a New Zealand artist, ceramicist, illustrator and children's book author. In recent years Katie's work has been shown at Mitchell studios, Inc Ltd, Art in the Park, The Collaboration NZ and The Wellington Art Show. From a very young age Katie experienced the ‘awe’ of a piece well done- the mystery and magic of it. She'd find herself pondering how the artist managed to achieve the final result and in turn how she could create the magic too. Somewhere along the way, life got less magic and more routine. In recent years Katie has become a mum to three beautiful girls and found the magic again. They’ve reminded her to look, observe, to seek joy and to find it in the tiny details. Katie started gardening and in turn fell in love with flowers. What once seemed ordinary- has now become extraordinary. The colour, the shapes, the vibrancy and curves. Katie's bright, mixed media and textural pieces draw from the natural beauty surrounding us. They remind us to pause, take a moment and to find joy.
